The James Herndon Memorial Turkey Invitational, is an annual hunting event dedicated to raising awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease or ALS. All proceeds raised from the tournament will benefit the ALS Association of South Carolina; A non-profit group dedicated to giving compassionate care to ALS patients and their families.
History:
The inaugural event in 2011 included nearly 30 teams with a grand total of 11 gobblers bagged. The tournament successfully raised over $2,000 for the ALSASC.
2012 received an even greater turnout with over 35 teams participating and 21 gobblers hitting the scales. The amount of funds raised for the ALSASC in the 2012 event was over $5,000.
Tournament Details:
In order to maintain integrity of the event, participants are formally invited by the committee however any individuals who wish to participate may contact us for entry consideration. Prizes will be awarded to the
top three teams which will be based on official NWTF scoring system: weight + beard length(x2) + length of spurs(x10). More details and rules for this year tournament will be posted soon.
